A dedicated Mecca Bingo employee from the Sale Mecca club is celebrating 40 years of service this month.
Marilyn Hanrahan started her career with Mecca Bingo in 1975, where she began her journey through the company. Marilyn is now a Senior Assistant and has had the pleasure of watching Mecca Bingo grow and change over the past 40 years.A favourite memory for Marilyn is the last grand opening at Mecca Bingo in Sale, as she fondly re all her colleagues and customers were “singing and dancing all day and night.”
Marilyn commented: “There have been a lot of changes over the years, especially the changes in food and Mecca Bingo did not have waitresses back when I started.

With the countdown to EAG 2016 is very much underway how was the 2015 earlier this year?

Preparations for EAG 2016 are progressing well and the outlook is for another significant event. EAG 2016 occupies its traditional dates in the calendar taking place will take place from 12th-14th January.

EAG International is now an established event in a mature market attracting buyer and specifiers from all over the world.  As you would expect the UK represents a large section of the audience but EAG is exceptional in attracting over 25% of buyers from some 60 countries around the world. After the UK, the countries with most visitors were Italy, Republic of Ireland, , Spain, Belgium, Sweden, Greece, Netherlands but we welcome guests from as far afield as Iceland, Korea and even the Faroe Islands.

All the Independent clubs have now received their fund-raising packs, which include balloons, collection tins, Gold Hearts to sell, and a list of Challenge Events they can take part in as well as a leaflet with lots of fund-raising activities on.

Gala and Mecca will be ing the rest of the industry in fund-raising early September, in the meantime Carlton have kicked off their activity. From 16th March for one week Carlton held a number of co-ordinated events across clubs including free games and draws and staff sponsored events which helped raise over £6,000 in the first week.

Local Mecca Doncaster team leader, Lucy Coy, is celebrating after being named regional charity champion for Yorkshire and the Humber, in the presence of HRH The Princess Royal, for her contributions towards charity Carers Trust.

The event, held at The Royal Horseguards Hotel in London, celebrated the whopping £500,000 raised for the charity in the last year. The partnership between the charity and The Rank Group Plc, which owns Mecca and Grosvenor Casinos, began in February 2014 and saw clubs take part in a host of different activities to raise much-needed funds.
